“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention,
sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution;
it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.”
William A. Foster

Policy, organisational structure, process and measures related to Business Continuity Management all form a complex whole. Not in the last place because Business Continuity Management is exceeding levels of process and is of an organisationwide nature. It is thus a legitimate question to have the own continuity preparedness independantly judged and have it accredited by an expert institute.
Accreditation by BCM Academy is aimed at giving stakeholders a justified confidence in the way an organisation has provided for its own continuity. Holding an accreditation from BCM Academy is proof that an organisation complies to set standards in accordance with policy, organisationally, physically and operationally. Therefore, accreditation by BCM Academy has become a byword for a longterm and permanent License to Operate.
Standard
The standard used by BCM Academy at executing accreditation is based on the set standard in PAS 56 as well as BCM process related & organisational aspects. By this falls the scope of policy and organisation, management and control cycle, strategic basic principles and the extend in which awareness and commitment are present.
On the other hand the survey takes place into the manner in which the organisation is prepared for specific risks related to location, process or line of busines and into the way there is compliance and anticipation with specific or changing market conditions, line specific issues or relevant legislation and regulation.
Accreditation is thus no commodity, but it is the result of an extensive and business specific survey.
